How A/B TEKNIQ handles local app data, online requests and support information, and how to exercise your privacy choices.

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Who is responsible

A/B TEKNIQ is operated by Andrew Kennedy, an independent developer, responsible for the personal information processed through this website and support service. Contact support@abtekniq.app about this policy or a privacy request.

This policy covers the A/B TEKNIQ app, abtekniq.app and support communications. Local app processing is described separately from information received by our service providers.

Your music and local app data

You choose the music files and folders the app can access. The app reads your audio and metadata to build the library and calculate tempo, beat grids, sections, key, loudness and related analysis. It does not modify or delete your original music files.

Library records can include track names, artists, file paths, artwork, source-folder access bookmarks and analysis results. Cues, loops, playlists, set plans, mix ratings, learned preferences, settings, model files and processing caches are stored on your device. The app does not upload your audio, library, cues or mix ratings to our website or the model-download service.

Saved mixes, set plans and exported audio are written where you choose. Sharing those files with another person or service is your decision; any recipient’s own privacy practices then apply. Operating-system backups or cloud-synced folders you choose may also copy local files under your own device or cloud settings.

Optional AI and preference learning

The AI Assistant starts switched off. Smart Prep, track suggestions, set drafting and preference learning use local processing. Where available, the app uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework to interpret set requests; it does not send those requests to an A/B TEKNIQ AI server.

In AI Assistant → Settings, you can switch off Enable AI Assistant or Allow preference learning. Switching off a feature stops its future use; it does not erase all information already saved. Use Reset learned preferences to reset the Assistant’s preference profile. The Director’s mix ratings are separate: use its Clear ratings control to remove those ratings.

When the app connects to the internet

The current app’s own network features are:

  • Website pages: opening What’s new or Coming soon loads an HTTPS page from abtekniq.app. Opening the website, privacy or support links can also start a browser or email application. The web view may cache page content locally.
  • Optional model download: choosing Download model retrieves model and licence files from Hugging Face and its delivery infrastructure over HTTPS. Enabling stem splitting alone does not start a download. Your music is not sent with the download request.

These requests disclose ordinary connection information to the destination, such as your IP address, request time, requested URL and HTTP/client information. Providers may use delivery infrastructure and retain technical logs. This is separate from uploading music or running analysis in the cloud.

You can avoid these requests by not opening online pages or starting a model download. A built-in release-history fallback is available when What’s new cannot load. Availability of Apple services and operating-system networking is governed by your Apple/device settings.

Website, hosting and cookies

abtekniq.app is hosted using Hostinger. The website includes no advertising scripts, third-party analytics, embedded social trackers, mailing-list forms or user accounts. Help search runs in your browser. The website application does not set cookies or use browser storage to create advertising identifiers.

Hostinger and its delivery/security infrastructure process connection and request information to serve pages, prevent abuse and diagnose faults. Provider-generated logging and infrastructure behaviour are governed by the hosting service and account configuration; “no analytics scripts” does not mean that no technical information is processed.

For details, see Hostinger’s privacy policy and data processing terms. Optional model delivery is described in Hugging Face’s privacy policy.

Email support

If you email support@abtekniq.app, we receive your email address, any name supplied by your email service, the message, attachments and ordinary email routing information. Our email service is Hostinger. Only send files or diagnostic details needed to explain your problem; you do not need to send your music library or audio files to ask for help.

Support information is used to answer your request, investigate issues and maintain the resulting support record. It is not automatically collected by the app. Privacy or deletion requests can be sent to the same address.

Purposes and legal bases

For personal information we receive through website delivery and support, the purposes are providing the requested service, answering support requests, maintaining security and investigating faults. We rely on performance of a contract where handling is necessary to provide a service you have purchased, legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and protecting our service where appropriate, and legal obligations where records must be kept by law. Opting into a local feature is not treated as permission for unrelated marketing.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting processing already lawfully completed. Local feature controls and operating-system permission settings let you stop the corresponding future access or processing.

Retention and deletion

InformationRetention and removal
Library, analysis, cues, loops, settings and cachesRemain on your device until removed, reset or deleted by you. Removing a source folder removes its library references; it does not promise to clear every associated cache or preference.
Assistant learned preferencesRemain locally until reset or the app data is deleted. AI Assistant → Settings → Reset learned preferences resets the Assistant’s profile.
Director mix ratingsRemain locally until Clear ratings is used or the app data is deleted.
Downloaded stem modelRemains on your device until you choose Delete model in the stem-splitting settings or remove the app’s data.
Saved mixes, set plans and exportsRemain in the location you selected until you delete them. Deleting the app does not delete exported files elsewhere.
Support correspondenceSupport correspondence is retained while the enquiry is open and deleted within six months after closure. Records needed for an ongoing issue, a legal obligation or a claim may be kept longer for that purpose. You can request deletion earlier; applicable exceptions will be explained.
Website/CDN technical logsHostinger manages technical-log retention under the applicable hosting, delivery and security arrangements. Retention depends on service operation, security investigations and legal requirements. A/B TEKNIQ has not set a separate retention period for these provider-held logs. Contact us about access or deletion requests; removal from provider systems is subject to the provider’s applicable retention and legal requirements.

Remove local data on Mac

  1. Quit A/B TEKNIQ and back up any plans or app metadata you want to keep.
  2. For the direct-download/local Mac build, use Finder → Go → Go to Folder and open ~/Library/Application Support/NovaFXRebuild. Move this app-generated folder to the Bin to remove the local library metadata, analysis, learned data, models and caches held there.
  3. For a sandboxed Mac App Store build, the equivalent app-generated folder is inside ~/Library/Containers/com.kennedy.novafx.rebuild.mac/Data/Library/Application Support/NovaFXRebuild. Removing the app’s sandbox container also removes its local preferences and web-view data. Use the path for the build you actually installed.
  4. The unsandboxed build’s macOS preferences are separate. With the app closed, the Terminal command defaults delete com.kennedy.novafx.rebuild.mac resets that build’s stored preferences. “Domain not found” means there were no preferences in that domain.
  5. Delete exported files separately if you also want to remove those. Emptying the Bin makes deletion permanent through the Bin’s normal recovery mechanism.

These instructions concern app-generated data. They do not remove original music files stored outside the app’s data folder. Device backups and any cloud copies you created must be managed separately. A deletion request to us cannot directly erase files held only on your device.

Remove local data on iPad

When using the iPad app, choose Settings → General → iPad Storage → A/B TEKNIQ → Delete App to remove the app and its local container. Offload App retains app data. Files exported elsewhere and your device/cloud backups require separate deletion.

Service providers and international handling

Hosting and email providers process the information necessary to deliver their respective services. Hugging Face and its delivery providers receive requests when you choose a model download. Relevant providers may process information outside your country. Their locations, international-transfer arrangements, security controls and retention are described in their applicable privacy and processing terms. We do not claim that all processing occurs in the UK.

Hostinger’s published data processing terms describe its contractual safeguards and applicable international-transfer arrangements. Hugging Face’s policy describes its handling of requests to its service. Contact us if you would like information about the arrangements relevant to your request.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and the applicable legal basis, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information we hold, and object to certain processing. Rights have legal exceptions; information needed to meet a legal obligation or resolve a claim may need to be retained.

Email support@abtekniq.app with your request. We may need proportionate information to confirm your identity. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Security and changes

Website and model-download connections use HTTPS. Model files are checked against pinned integrity values before installation. Local data remains subject to your device’s access controls and backup arrangements. These measures reduce risk but do not guarantee that every device, email or internet connection is completely secure.

This policy will be updated when the app’s data handling or services change. The date above identifies this version. The current version covered by this policy has no A/B TEKNIQ account or implemented in-app purchasing service. If a payment or account feature is introduced, this policy will be updated to describe its information handling before that feature is released.
